About Me

Since 2004, when I began teaching ceramic classes at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, I have been dedicated to sharing my passion for education and the arts. I graduated from the University with an MFA -ceramics in June of 2008. After graduation, I relocated to Jingdezhen, China where I worked as an artist in residency at Sanboa International Art Institute and lived for almost two years. I returned to the states to complete my multiple subject teaching credential in 2010. I have taught classes in a ceramic studio, elementary school, high school, community college, and University. I've encountered a very diverse group of individuals in my classes, children as young as five, to the elderly, the oldest being eighty-seven. I have taught the blind and individuals with missing limbs, students with autism, and other learning disabilities during my professional career. I have also worked as a ceramic consultant for several artists and helped them complete numerous large-scale sculptures. I am proficient in several artistic disciplines: ceramics, woodworking, metal working, sculpture, plaster mold making, wax work, bronze casting, and welding.
